Freshman central defender Diego Prada has been named to the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer all-America team for the 2023 season. The Bogota, Columbia native was named to the second team. Prada was a mainstay in the Blue Devils defense, starting 18 games, scoring two goals and adding an assist while anchoring a back line that allowed just 1.35 goals per game, the lowest in program history.
In addition to being named to the all-America second team, Prada received several other honors this season, including being named the NJCAA Region XIII Player of the Year, as well as being named all-region and all-conference. Prada is the first Riverland men's soccer player to earn all-American honors.
"Diego had an outstanding season, earning the respect of his teammates and coaches as well as coaches on several opposing teams this fall," said Riverland head men's soccer coach Frank Spaeth. "We look forward to having him among a strong group of returners as we look to continue on our recent successes."
Riverland made its fourth consecutive appearance in the NJCAA Region XIII championship game in 2023, winning its first regional title, before falling in the Midwest District final on penalty kicks and just missing out on a trip to the national tournament.
